Among the Dassanech, the Dimi ceremony marks a pivotal moment: young girls undergo infibulation as a rite of passage into womanhood, while their fathers celebrate their own transformation into elders, gaining power and status within the community.
This project focuses on the fathers whose joy and status are deeply intertwined with this cultural ritual. Through intimate portraits and moments of festivity, the images explore the tension between tradition, power, and its human cost.
