YOLRED works with former child soldiers, child mothers and others whose lives were shaped by the war in northern Uganda. Its programmes cover skills training, livelihoods, land rights and access to justice — practical routes back into ordinary life. I met the team in Gulu and filmed with them in August 2026.

Five children in Moroto lost both parents and are now surviving on their own, in a region facing its worst food crisis in years: 473,000 people across Karamoja are in acute food insecurity, and the government has confirmed deaths from hunger. Donations go to Caritas Moroto, which buys food at the local market and delivers it to the family. 

Jackfruit runs a school for children aged 3 to 10 in one of the poorest districts in Uganda, where the alternative is often no schooling at all. The nursery and the first primary classes opened in 2026. The remaining primary classrooms and buildings are still under construction, and that is what this fund is for.
